Music is basic to early childhood and one of our most natural expressions. Our music activities are a daily event, spontaneous and interrelated to other events during the school day. Children are introduced to a variety of songs and music concepts such as active listening, fast/slow, loud/soft, high/low sounds, and the concept of a beat. A music specialist is regularly scheduled and contributes to the children’s ongoing enjoyment of songs and games.
Art integrates the curriculum and stimulates pre-K children more than almost any other subject matter. From finger painting to gluing leaves and flowers on paper to making objects with clay, art helps children grow creatively, socially, physically, emotionally and intellectually. Our curriculum emphasizes the process approach where children are exposed to a variety of media and allowed to explore and create in ways that are open-ended.
Creative Movement at The Little School. We provides children with opportunities to experience the joy of movement, dance and self-expression. Weekly movement classes enhance each child’s self-esteem, physical development and rhythmic creativity.
